use: | It is used as yeast food and gum confection improver. It also can be used in ethanol drinks, glutin products, wines and yeast fermented baking products. Feed-grade urea is an important source of non-protein nitrogen (NPN) and is widely used in the feed of ruminants (such as cattle and sheep). It has the following main uses: Protein Supplementation Feed-grade urea contains approximately 46% nitrogen, equivalent to 288% crude protein. It can serve as a substitute for protein, helping ruminants synthesize high-quality microbial protein and thus enhancing the nutritional value of the feed. Adding urea to the diet of ruminants can reduce reliance on traditional protein feeds (such as soybean meal), lowering feed costs. Optimizing Digestion and Absorption Urea can be broken down into ammonia by the microorganisms in the rumen of ruminants. This ammonia serves as a substrate for microbial protein synthesis, improving feed digestibility and nutrient absorption efficiency. When added to feed, urea can optimize rumen function, especially during periods of poor feed quality (e.g., dry seasons), helping animals better utilize the feed and reduce weight loss. Enhancing Production Performance The use of urea as a feed additive can increase milk yield in dairy cows and daily weight gain in beef cattle, thereby improving breeding benefits. Urea can also be used to produce premixes and compound feeds to meet different breeding requirements. Promoting Microbial Growth Urea can promote the growth of fiber-degrading bacteria and other microorganisms in the rumen, aiding in the breakdown of cellulose and improving feed utilization. As these microorganisms break down urea, they synthesize microbial protein, further enhancing the nutritional value of the feed. Conserving Protein Resources The use of urea can replace part of the protein feed, reducing dependence on soybeans and other protein sources. This helps alleviate the pressure on protein feed imports and has significant economic and environmental implications. Application in Different Feed Forms Urea can be added to concentrate feeds, roughage, and silage. It can also be made into urea blocks for animals to lick. In silage, the recommended addition rate of urea is generally 0.5% of the wet weight of the silage, helping to increase the protein content of the feed. PrecautionsThe amount of urea used must be strictly controlled to avoid ammonia poisoning. Generally, it is recommended that the proportion of urea in the dry matter of the feed should not exceed 1%, and the daily urea intake per 100 kg of animal body weight should not exceed 30 grams.Urea should be used in combination with energy sources (such as grains, molasses) to improve its utilization efficiency. |
