5,Character: It occurs as colorless transparent monoclinic system crystal. Usually, it contains two hydrates. Melting point is 101-102 ºC. Relative density (19 ºC) is 1.65. Refractive index is 1.440. It's soluble in water, slightly soluble in ether and ethanol. It sublimates at the temperature of 157ºC. Dihydrate form effloresces easily and turns to anhydrous form. Melting point of anhydrous Oxalic Acid is 189.5 ºC (decomposing).

 Rust removal and surface descaling for steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous alloys.
Bright-dip and polishing agent for aluminum and copper before plating or anodizing.

Textile & leather processing:Bleaching agent for cotton, linen and wood-pulp fabrics.
Mordant in dyeing to improve color uptake and fastness.Chrome tanning auxiliary for leather to enhance softness and dye penetration.

Wood & furniture industries:Primary ingredient in deck and furniture cleaners to remove iron stains, tannins and weathered gray layers.Wood bleacher for lightening oak, maple and teak prior to finishing.
