6.Character:Potassium oxalate is an organic potassium salt with the molecular formula K2C2O4, which is a white monoclinic crystal. The prominent advantage of potassium oxalate as an anticoagulant is its high solubility. Its principle of action is that the dissolved oxalic acid reacts with the calcium ions in the sample to form calcium oxalate precipitate. Thus, the coagulation function of calcium ions itself becomes ineffective, thereby blocking the coagulation process of calcium ions.
